How does a car subscription work?

Subscribe to a vehicle from the Drive Select fleet and treat it as your own for a monthly fee. It is a flexible alternative to ownership: the convenience of a short commitment, with licensing, insurance, registration and scheduled servicing included.

You pay for fuel and incidentals. Unlike buying a car, you can return, renew, upgrade, swap or purchase at the end of your subscription term.

Am I eligible for a car subscription?

When you apply for a car subscription, we run an identity check, driving record and credit report. We may also request documents including proof of address, utility bills, bank statements and pay slips as part of our commitment to responsible spending.

Every application is considered individually. All subscribers also need to meet these basic criteria:

- Be at least 25 years old and not over 75 years old
- Hold a valid Australian C Class licence, or an equivalent international driver's licence
- Your driver's licence has never been restricted, cancelled or suspended
- No criminal, drink-driving or drug-driving convictions
- Not have made two or more motor insurance claims in the last 5 years
- Not use a subscription vehicle to operate a ridesharing service

What are the benefits of a car subscription?

With insurance, servicing and registration bundled in, you have one fixed monthly payment instead of several rising household costs.

What is the difference between a car subscription and a car lease?

Subscription rates are typically lower than a comparable rental, and unlike a lease there are no long-term contracts and no balloon payments. Subscribe with a minimum commitment as short as 3 months, then return, renew or swap your car as your needs change.

Drive Select subscription plans cover licensing, registration, insurance, scheduled servicing, maintenance and roadside assistance. You cover fuel, incidentals and any kilometres travelled above your subscription allowance.
